Wisdom and Gifts

Wisdom and Gifts Wisdom is knowing if you should accept help from people who offer it. Whether it is a gift or a favor or a service, help usually comes at a price. Be wary of people who offer to help you or give you something with no clear way for you to return the favor with something of equal value. Think about what that person really wants from you. There is always a motivating reason behind an offer of help. Some people want to get rid of excess belongings and don’t want to take the time to seek out a charity that could use it. Some people want to feel good about themselves and don’t want to spend the time on volunteer work or the money on financial donations to charities. Some people want your romantic affections. Some people want you to be socially indebted to them. Some people want to prove their worth to the world. Everyone in a society wants to feel valued. It is important to ensure the strength of social systems that allow people to contribute their talents to their s

Thinking

Feb 10, 2018 Thinking Oppressive, unscrupulous leaders may try to intimidate you into not thinking for yourself and speaking out against unfair practices. They cause bad things to happen to you if you try to stop people from cheating or hurting their neighbors for social gain. People who live in systems like that are cowed into not thinking about how their system is structured and speaking out to try to change it. Frequently, those same people take the goodies that are structured into the system to keep the population from asking questions. Weak people will trade freedoms for entertainment and not insist that they have quality leaders. If thinking for yourself is a form of protest, embrace it and do it. It is better that you keep your self-respect knowing you are a decent person that is trying to cause change for the better. That is far better than feeling tormented by gu

The Forest and the Trees

Jan 30, 2018 The Forest and the Trees There is a saying for people who cannot see the larger plan of events. The person “can’t see the forest because of the trees.”  Plans can be large and small. When you make your own plans, remember to stay circumspect. It is good to reach your short-term goals. However, if something happens that helps a larger plan for the greater good to move forward, it is important to be able to see both the forest and the trees.

Tyrants and Religion

Jan 30, 2018 Tyrants and Religion Tyrants like to use religion to control people. Faith should never be a code word for unthinking obedience. Tyrants are both lazy and cheaters. They will use whatever means available to entrap communities and make people feel they have nowhere to run. They want people to be quiet and complicit. Mindless obedience only leads to and propagates a tyrannical system. People must speak out against oppressive leadership. If someone wants your loyalty, you must look at that person’s leadership to determine if that person is worthy of your loyalty. Those who are lazy and think it is acceptable to hurt others for their own gain will only destroy the system they are in. Those who are industrious and try to care for the people around them will ultimately build a better system. Tyrants will use religion to justify burdening people with undeserved problems. They will restrict people’s access to the solutions to those problems. They will misinform people

Don’t Be Afraid to Feel Emotion

1/20/2018 Don’t Be Afraid to Feel Emotion Do not be ashamed to feel different kinds of emotion. To feel emotion is human. Love, desire, anger, jealousy, disappointment, sadness and fear are only a few of the emotions we experience in life. It is alright to cry. But, don’t let these emotions cause you to do destructive or irresponsible acts. You can feel an emotion as long as it doesn’t cause you to do sinful behavior. Do not act on emotions that are destructive. Emotions are motivators. Make sure they cause you to do positive actions rather than destructive ones. If you are in love, work on developing a skill that will impress the person you are courting. If you are jealous, work on obtaining something similar to what causes your jealousy. If you are angry, try talking out your problem with your opponent. If you are sad, try spending time with people you love and appreciate the blessings you have. If you are afraid, be brave and confront your fear or try using a new strate

Wishful Thinking and False Rescue

Jan 14, 2018 Wishful Thinking and False Rescue If you feel trapped and hope for someone to help you, be careful. Not all opportunities are good opportunities. They can turn out to be traps. When you feel desperate, it is difficult to see the potential problems that can result from a decision. Wishful thinking can be hard to resist. But, you must carefully consider how your life will change if you choose to accept help from someone. Think about what you are willing to give that person and what that person expects from you. Sometimes, enduring the current arrangement is a better choice, because you can bring better things into your life if you keep working a little longer and keep to a long-term goal. You create your own hope when you are your own leader. When you control your surroundings and follow a plan, you have more stability and feel more secure. Relying on other people’s success, money and blessings is tempting but can end having high personal costs. Doing the ha

The Path Less Traveled

The Path Less Traveled Do not hate those who follow the easy path in life. Those who disregard noble moral standards to get the desirable things they want. They will say they are being “realistic about how the world works”, but they are just weak people. They will normalize the lower standards they chose to follow and criticize you for not going along with them. Do not give them your confidence. Do not give them admiration. Do not give them power. They do not deserve it. With power, they will destroy the world. They will cannibalize each other and they will destroy you in the process. Do not hate them, but fight firmly against their world-view. Use the democratic process to convince those in charge of your economy to lead with high moral standards. Form labor unions. Create and enforce labor laws to protect workers. Make employers pay workers a living wage. Do not allow wage slavery to happen. Keep civil discourse and persistently keep asking for people in power to make d
